Why you should drink a V8

Adding more vegetables to our diet is considered one of the best things that we can do to improve our health. The problem that many of us run into is that we do not know how to cook vegetables or simply do not like eating in the first place. For many years, one of the alternatives to a full plate of broccoli is just drink a glass of V8 vegetable juice instead. While no substitute for perfect, there are actually several reasons why you might want to reach for a V8.

V8 is low in calories
When you consider that most of us reach for soft drinks and fruit juices instead of plain water, simple, it is difficult to overlook the fact that V8 is quite a bit lower in calories than many other drinks. The original V8 vegetable juice contains only 80 calories per serving of eight ounces. While this is still a bit more than you would find in the water, that nobody has any, is much better than 120-200 calories found in juice and soda.

V8 Has vitamins
The fact that it consists almost entirely of vegetable juice, it is obvious that there is going to be some solid nutrition withdrawn in those bottles. This is definitely the case as a serving of V8 will give you 80% of your daily vitamin C, 25% of your daily vitamin A, calcium and iron as well. While it may not be a multivitamin, isn't too bad either.

V8 is better than most of the juices
The problem that you encounter over and over again when it comes to fruit juices, and this is also true when it comes to online V8 Splash juices, is that they are full of sugar, usually in the form of high fructose corn syrup. Repeated studies have found that high levels of excess sugar in the diet, particularly quickly digestible forms found in drinks, contribute to weight gain and development of type 2 diabetes. Most varieties of V8 vegetable juices do not contain any added sugar.

While no means a perfect replacement vegetable that it is marketed as vegetable juice, V8 infact have several factors that have contributed to ensure giving it a second look, the next time you pass by it in the supermarket. High in vitamins, low content of sugars and low in calories, V8 can be a tasty and nutritious drink relatively for those times when the water just won't do.
